Mandalay Region, formerly Mandalay Division in central Myanmar has an area of 37,020 km² with a population of almost 8 million, mostly Bamar. The capital is Mandalay, which has a sizeable Chinese population. Its flag is dark yellow with the region's name “Mandele Tain” in Burmese script and a depiction of the central tower of the Royal palace within laurel wreaths, all in red.
