Chișinău, the capital of Moldova

Transfiguration Church, Chișinău

The Moldovan Orthodox Catedrala “Schimbarea la față” (Transfiguration Church) along the Bulevardul Ștefan cel Mare și Sfântin Chișinău, originally named after SS. Constantine and Helen and part of the now disappeared Michael the Brave “gymnasium” for boys, built between 1898 and 1902 by the architect Mihail Seroținski. From 1962 to 1990 it housed a planetarium, destroyed by fire and the building eventually handed back to the Orthodox Church and completely refurbished.
