Kingdom of Lesotho, 1966

At independence on 4 October 1966, the Kingdom of Lesotho adopted a new national flag: A blue flag, proportions of 3:2, with at the hoist green and red vertical stripes and white “Mokorotlo”, the Basotho hat, in the centre of the blue field. The colours signify: blue - sky and rain, white - peace, green - land and red - faith.
