Ssanggyesa Temple, South Gyeongsang Province

Ssanggyesa Cheongwangmun

Ssanggyesa Cheongwangmun, the third gate proceeding towards the interior of the temple complex, honours the four Devas, the Heavenly Kings. At the centre is the Sumisan, the place where Buddha lives - the temple is symbolic of Sumisan. Therefore, if one passes this gate, it means he or she is likely to enter the world of Buddha. The Cheongwangmun of Ssanggyesa was built by the monk Baekbong in 1704 and renovated in 1825 and 1978.
