Grotto of Bomunsa

The Grotto of Bomunsa, originally built by the great priest Hoejeong in the year 635, during the reign of Queen Seondeok of the Silla dynasty; it was reconstructed in 1812, with three gates installed at the entrance and a niche used as a mortuary cave. A natural cave was utilised to build the chamber for an image of Buddha and other Buddhist figures.
