Naksan Temple, Gangwon Province

Dongjon, bronze bell

The bronze bell in the belfry in the Naksansa temple complex is a recast, made in October 2006 after the original bell, housed in a bell tower near Gohyangsil Hall, was melted in the forest fire of April 2005. The bell is 158 cm high and 98 cm wide and is decorated with sculptures of two valiant dragons spiralling towards each other and at the top is a band of lotus petals with four images of Bodhisattvas.
