Imperial Rome, past glory

Forum Romanum

View into the Roman Forum, the plaza surrounded by the ruins of several important ancient government buildings which was for centuries the centre of Roman public life, located in the small valley between the Palatine and Capitoline Hills. In the background the monument dedicated to Victor Emmanuel II, the first king of a united Italy from 1861 to 1878.
