The spectacular Amalfi Coast

Positano

The town of Positano, 19 kilometres west of Amalfi along the Gulf of Salerno. It was a port of the Amalfi Republic in medieval times, prospered in the 16th and 17th centuries but by the mid-19th century had fallen on hard times. It is now a tourist centre, with about 4,000 inhabitants.
