French Coast of the Somalis

French Somaliland

The French tricolour flag was adopted in 1790. The colours blue and red were based on the cockade worn by the militia, prominent in the storming of the Bastille, in Paris' traditional colours and white was the old Royal colour. The flag was hoisted in all French colonial territories, including in Obock and French Somaliland when it was declared in 1894.
