Bolivia Civil Flag, 1888

Bolivia Civil Flag, 1888

The flag was adopted on 31 October 1851 and confirmed in 14 July 1888. Red symbolises the courage of Bolivian soldiers, yellow or gold the mineral wealth and green the country's fertility. The red and yellow colours are derived from the colours of Colombia and her liberator Simon Bolivar, who also liberated Bolivia, named after him.
