Previous Aboriginal Initiation Ceremonies from Northern Australia

The enclosure where the two boys will be circumcised, lying on their backs on top of men who have certain family relations with them. Women will dance around the enclosure during the operation which may only be witnessed by initiated men. This is the culmination of the ''Djapi'' initiation ceremony, a ritual native to Arnhem Land.
