Aboriginal Children's Dance in the Northern Territory

Warlpiri “Purlapa”

At the “Purlapa wiri” (Big Corroborree) festival in Alekarenge near Tennant Creek, boys do their high- stepping dance. They are painted with red ochre and decorated with “wamurlu”, vegetable down coloured with ochre and white ash stuck to their bodies.
